             HIOKI Data Capture Application
(RESISTANCE METER and PRECISION DC VOLTMETER)

I. Outline

This software enables the user to obtain measurement data from the

RESISTANCE METER and PRECISION DC VOLTMETER via the RS-232C interface

 or USB interface.

There are 3 functions, and each function can be applied to save

measurement data directly into an Excel spreadsheet or as a text

 file.

 1. Capture data by pressing the Enter key on the PC.

 2. Capture data via the External I/O TRIG signal.

	(For example, foot switch).

 3. Capture data at specific time intervals. (Logging)

II. Initial settings after the Data Capture Application has been

	successfully installed

 1. Setting the measurement conditions

First, please set the measurement conditions (Ex. Range,

Comparator settings) on the instrument manually.

 2.Setting of the Application Software

  -1.Capture Settings

Select [Capture Settings] from the menu and configure

the settings using the dialog window.

    (1)Save Details

Please choose to save as a text file or to Excel.

    (2)Save Format

Select the symbol for the decimal point and the separator,

when saving the data as a text file.

(3)EXT Trigger Filter (when using the internal trigger)

When the Capture Method is "With EXT Trigger" and the trigger

setting of the instruments is "internal trigger", this

	  function is not available.

After capturing the measurement data, triggers corresponding

to a time that is shorter than the set time will not be recognized.

 3.Communication Settings

Select [Communication Settings] from the menu and configure the settings or

conduct a communication test using the dialog window. Settings will be

reflected after the OK button is clicked and the dialog window is closed.

    (1)Communication Settings

Please set the COM port and baud rate.

Click "Refresh COM port list" to update to the current COM port information.

In addition, click "Display information about the HIOKI product" to add

detailed information about the connected HIOKI product to the COM port list.

The baud rate will also be automatically selected.

(Click "Refresh COM port list" and close the Communication Settings dialog

window to clear the detailed information.)

    (2)Communication Test

Transmitting any command to a chosen port by entering the information in the

"Send Data" field and clicking "Send".

Received data will be displayed when transmitting a query command.

III. Saving Measurement Data

 1.Selecting the file

To save measurement data, first designate the format in which you

would like the output - either as a CSV text file or directly onto

an Excel spreadsheet. When saving as a text file, enter a new file

name, or add to an existing file by choosing the file from your

hard disk by clicking the Browse button. If Excel is installed, saving

  to Excel is available.

    (1)Saving to file

New data will be recorded after the last entry of previously

saved data, so old data will not be deleted.

    (2)Saving to Excel

Saving to Excel will prompt the application to display the

measurement results beginning from the selected cell on the active

spreadsheet, or the first cell in a new spreadsheet. The Excel

program will automatically be launched if it is not currently open.

2.Capture with Capture button or ENTER key

	Procedure:

 	(1) Select "With Capture button or ENTER key" as the capture method.

 	(2) Click "Start" to begin measurement.

	(3) Click "Capture" on the application or press "Enter" on the keyboard

	    to record the desired data.

	(4) The measurement results will be recorded onto the designated CSV

     	file or Excel spreadsheet.

	(5) To stop the procedure, click "STOP".

*Caution: Trigger settings will automatically change to internal trigger.

3.Capture Data via an External Trigger

 	Procedure:

 	(1) Select "With EXT Trigger" as the capture method.

 	(2) Click "Start" to begin measurement.

 	(3) Measured data can be loaded and saved into the designated CSV file

or Excel spreadsheet whenever the TRIG terminal in the external

     	I/O is activated.

 	(4) To stop the procedure, click "STOP".

*Even if the instrument is operating under "internal trigger" mode,

data capture is still possible using TRIG input.

 4.Time interval measurement

	Procedure:

 	(1) Select "At Intervals" as the capture method.

 	(2) Set the time interval and the total number of times to record.

 	(3) The measurement results will be recorded onto the designated CSV

     	file or Excel spreadsheet.

 	(4) To stop the procedure, click "STOP".
